Approximately 132 people attended representing many different communities. The event was also attended by the Mayor of Islington, Islington council staff, and Islington’s Youth Council MPs.
Refugee week this year was particularly unique as it took place in historic and defining times with the unprecedented movement of people resulting in a migration crisis in Europe. This crisis is the largest of its kind, since the Second World War. The tragic murder of Jo Cox MP also highlighted the division within the community. Refugee Week enable us to remembered her and celebrate her life as a good Samaritan and above all a humanitarian advocate who dedicated her life to standing for the rights of the poor, oppressed and refugees.
